British Council to liaise with Home Economics University

Lahore: The high-powered delegation of the British Council visited the University of Home Economics, Lahore (UHE) yesterday afternoon. The delegation was headed by the director of programs British Council Pakistan Micheal Houlgate along with Head of Higher Education, Sarah Parvez, and manager library & Outreach Services, Varda Dar. The Vice-Chancellor UHE, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen briefed the British delegation about varsity progress and academic achievements since she holds the office.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with global academic institutions to work together in the field of research, faculty development, and exchange programs. UHE, is expecting close ties with reputed varsities of UK under British Council programs” said VC, Prof. Kanwal Ameen. She was of the view, “under the Pakistan-UK Higher Education Links Project, British Council should assist us in transferring knowledge skills so that our teachers could be trained.” The Vice-Chancellor looked for making membership cards for teachers and students to access the British Council Library in Lahore.

During the meeting, Micheal Houlgate agreed that technical training for teacher development should be provided in conjunction with the UHE and resource sharing to further improve the quality of education. Sarah Pervez informed that a consortium of universities has been set up by the United Kingdom. The main objective of this consortium is to make students and teachers global citizens. Under the consortium, there are special funding programs for teachers, which can also benefit University of Home Economics teachers.

British Council delegation agreed to further sign a memorandum of understanding for the academic collaboration with UHE.
