Lahore Literary Festival 2019 begins

The three-day Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) began at Al Hamra Halls, Mall Road on Friday afternoon.

The festival has brought together academics, literary personalities, writers, poets, intellectual and leading personalities from the field of education, literature, art, culture and music.

The opening ceremony was followed by keynote address on the life and legacy of Faiz Ahmed Faiz by Zehra Nigah and introduction by Nasreen Rehman.

Five interactive sessions were held on the first day of Lahore Literary festival. The most popular one was ‘Securing Pakistan’s water future,’ Former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, technocrat Shamsul Mulk and water law and policy expert Erum Sattar shared their views on the occasion. The session was moderated by Rina Saeed Khan.

A session was held on ‘Populism and the future of global democracy’. Historian Ayesha Jalal, political commentator Afshan Shahi and historian Eugene Rogan spoke on the occasion while the session was moderated by acclaimed journalist and author Ahmed Rashid.

Sessions were held on the recent book launches. The first session was held about ‘My Pakistan: The story of a bishop’. Bishop Alexander John Malik shared his views as a writer. Nelofer Bakhtiar moderated the session.

In the second book launch session ‘Metro Lahore A photographic journey along Lahore’s Metro Bus’ Faizan Ahmed was in conversation with Amna Rizwan Ali.
