HEC issues alert on fake degree attestation agents

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a public alert, alarming students and their parents of fake degree attestation agents working on the name of HEC.

HEC is the highest body to regulate higher education in Pakistan, which also attest the degrees and transcript of the students issued by universities. There were reports of fake degree attestation agents minting money from students, therefore HEC took notice of the issue and asked students and their parents to beware of such agents.

In the alert, HEC stated, “it has been brought to the knowledge of HEC that some individuals posing as agents offer to assist applicants in getting their degrees and transcripts attested. In some cases, these individuals cheat the applicants by pasting fake HEC stamps/tickets on original degrees and transcripts. All such degrees and transcripts with fake stamps are liable to be confiscated when submitted to HEC.

All concerned are advised to be extremely careful in this matter, and follow the prescribed procedure for attestation instead of engaging potentially fraudulent agents. Individuals who want to attest to the degrees should visit the HEC website and follow the procedure mentioned on the HEC website.”
