A two-day International Conference kicks off at NED

A two-day International Conference on ‘Advances in Materials Science and Environmental Engineering’ kicked off on Friday organized by the NED University in collaboration with the Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman and Sir Syed University of Engineering Technology, covering the importance of the environment, innovations in science and technology, and the latest fields of engineering.

Experts from 7 countries and some 35 local speakers from various local engineering universities will speak about the issues being faced by the world. They will also present their research publications at the conference.

“In societies where research is not encouraged, they lag behind in the race for development,” said NEDUT Vice Chancellor Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, added; “I believe that such a global conference will provide a platform to students, teachers, and researchers”

Lodhi said that the present age is a competitive age in which the world has to compete through innovation in science and technology. “We are moving towards global warming, it is necessary to set up industries, but it also our responsibility to keep the environment safe and better for future generations”.

The VC said that the aim of showcasing research projects at the conference is to establish partnerships between universities and industries.

Addressing the conference, Metallurgical Engineering Department Chairman Dr. Ali Dad Chandio said that various conferences and training sessions are urgently needed to meet the requirements of the fields of technology.

The Dean Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Dr. Asif Ahmed Sheikh said that scientific inventions and researches are essential for the betterment of human lives and that the standard of measuring the rise and fall of nations is also research. Thus we have to focus on research and innovation so that we engineers could their role in bringing a positive change in lives of people.

Appreciating the centennial services of the NED University for the engineering sector, SSUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Waliuddin said; “We are trying to bring the engineering sector up to date with the latest requirements. The engineering sector is the backbone of society. Therefore, universities, industries, and the government should be on one page for the development of this sector”.

In the end, the SHEC Chairman Dr Asim Hussain said that the provincial higher education commission is committed to facilitating researchers and they won’t face unnecessary difficulties. “Organizing such important conference would uplift engineering education in the province. We are committed to providing all facilities to researchers they need”.
