Taimuria Library is now the first-ever public library in Karachi that will remain open round clock, said Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem while inaugurating the library.
The 24-hour services aimed to promote study culture and researchers could get access to the books any time they need. On his visit to the library, Commander Sachal Rangers Sindh Brigadier Altaf Ahmed was also present. He assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the District Central administration in promoting the noble cause of promoting study habits in youth and readers.
Taimuria Library is now the first-ever public library in Karachi that will remain open for readers for 24 hours. “This is indeed a great initiative undertaken by the District Central administration and it will play a vital role in encouraging students to improve their educational expertise, reading and learning habits in a well-versed manner,” said the administrator.
He recalled that there was a time when the presence of learned people, professionals, and students were very common at Taimuria Library but with the passage of time and due to the lack of attention of concerned authorities, the educational place went secluded, neglected and failed to serve the cause for which they were established. But now finally after sincere intentions and continuous efforts, the library has been restored, attracting a lot of students.
Moreover, Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab lauded the efforts made by the District Central. Wahab on his Twitter said; “This is a wonderful initiative in District Central, most literate district of Pakistan. We need to encourage reading habits and provide such opportunities in all districts. Good job DMC Central.”
In a statement, the District Municipal Corporation has said that this step undertaken by District Central will surely set a paradigm for all other districts in Karachi, giving 24/7 access to education and learning. It was the need of the hour today to promote education and literacy among all sans any discrimination with on objective of turning societies educated in all aspects.
