The final of “HEC Zone M Inter-University Football Championship” was played today between Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi at Sixteen Star Football Ground under collaboration between SSUET and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan.
SSUET defeated IBA by 5-4 in the final and won the Sindh champion trophy, whereas the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) Karachi won the third position. Vice-Chancellor Sheikh Ayaz University Shikarpur (SAUS), Prof Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti was the Chief Guest of closing ceremony.
Registrar SSUET, Cdre (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Director Sports HEC, Javed Ali Memon, Convener Sports SSUET, Qazi Nasre Abbas, Director Sports SSUET, Mubashir Mukhtar, Javed Iqbal, Nomanuddin, Shahid Masood, Salim Patni, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Director Sports Dr Mehnaz, Mohsin Ali Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
Performance of both the teams were outstanding and after a great and interesting competition, Sir Syed University earned victory on penalty shootouts and secured Champion Trophy.
Speaking on the auspicious occasion, the Chief Guest Prof Dr Ghulam Raza Bhatti said that the standard of play in this event was very high, every team came with preparation. It was an exemplary event. It was an event in which all the participating teams played well, I congratulate the organizers for organizing such a successful event.
Director Sports HEC, Javed Memon said that Sir Syed University once again organized a successful event. Congratulations to them for maintaining the wonderful tradition which includes the hard work of the sports department of the university. I congratulate and hope that in the future Sir Syed University will collaborate with HEC in organizing similar events.
Registrar of SSUET, Cdre (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali thanked all participating teams for taking part in the football championship and he was obliged of HEC for choosing Sir Syed University to organize this event as joint venture. The HEC Zone M Inter-University Football Championship 2022-23 concluded on Friday and eventually SSUET qualified for the final round of the championship which will start from December 26, 2022 in Multan.
