Principal KCWU Nominated for Ordinary Board Member of ICOM

The International Council of Museums (ICoM) has announced the country Chair of ICoM for Pakistan Dr Rukhsana David, Principal Kinnaird College for Women University (KCWU), as an Ordinary Board Member of the ICOM Regional Alliance of Asia-Pacific countries (ASPAC).

The International Council of Museums recognizes the efforts and dedication for the work of Dr Ruksana David to promote intangible cultural heritage and the preservation of material heritage in Pakistan.

ICOM Pakistan is the national Committee of ICOM in Pakistan. It is a gateway to the global museum community and the only Museum Association of Pakistan (MAP) with a dedicated international focus. It offers access to 20,000 museums in 172 countries, 32,000 museum colleagues throughout the world and 31 professional committees. It is an organization which promotes intangible heritage and the preservation of material heritage. It develops best practice standards for the world- wide museum industry and, through its global reach and events program, contributes to the international agenda of museums in Pakistan.

Dr David is committed to Strengthening the Potential of Museums in Promoting the Principles of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The cultural and creative industries are among the fastest growing sectors in the world.
