Pakistani Students Shine At Alfaisal Science & Technology Day 2019

Students from the Pakistan International School Riyadh (PISES) made their mark in the fields of science and technology at the 2019 Alfaisal Science & Technology Day Competition last month at Alfaisal University, Riyadh.

Alfaisal Science & Technology Day is part of the Saudi Kingdom’s plan to encourage more students to get involved in sciences and technology. The competition in particular called upon Grade 9 to 12 students to undertake scientific studies and develop their own scientific projects and technology-based solutions.

A number of schools from across the Kingdom participated in the competition. With support from teachers and parents, students conducted various research projects and developed innovative ideas aided by technology to offer solution to emerging global problems. The basic aim of the event was to inspire young minds and showcase student’s contribution and brilliance in project-based science and technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The students’ projects were assessed by the university faculty as well as corporate evaluators who collectively chose the winners.

Students from the PISES made a lasting impression on the judges, manifested in the awards their projects managed to receive. Aleeha Syed and Amal Fatima impressed the judges with their unique “Biodegradable Plastics” project and were declared first throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Hadia Sahar of PISES obtained third position for demonstrating “VA IPoc”.

Delighted by the win, Aleeha thanked her school and parents for the opportunity, adding that interacting, competing with students from around the Kingdom and wining the first prize was a momentous achievement for her. PISES Principal Professor Mohammad Tanveer, teachers and students garnered a big round of applause from audience. Professor Tanveer dedicated the win to Pakistan and said it was a matter of great pride for all, especially the Pakistani Community.

The winning projects will be displayed at Alfaisal University.
