A spokesman for the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba University of Karachi Umair Baig, said the search committee set up by the Sindh government had failed to find a permanent vice-chancellor in the last three years. After the 18th amendment, the education process is in the hands of the provinces but the Sindh government is responsible. That is why the students are forced to bear the entire burden of the increase in semester fees by the administration of Karachi University.
Talking about the current situation, he said that the Sindh government has not taken the selection boards and other demands of teachers seriously from the very first day, as a result of which the teaching process at Karachi University has been suspended for the last five days. Parents, including students, are deeply uncertain about their children’s future.
Spokesperson of Islami Jamiat Talaba University He further said that Sindh government should refrain from bloodshed on the sovereignty of universities and allow universities to function in accordance with the Universities Act, 1973, which was enacted during the time of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
