Educational institutions remain closed due to PTI’s long march

As the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is holding its long march on Friday, most of the educational institutions including public and private schools, colleges and universities decided to remain closed and shift the classes to online mode.

While some universities decided to remain close and move to online classes, few also announced to remain open but closed their shuttle services. Government College University (GCU) Lahore announced to remain on online mode of classes on Friday while Punjab University (PU) decided to remain open but the transport fleet will not operate to pick up students.

In a similar situation, some of the notable schools including Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Beaconhouse, The City School and other schools nearby Liberty Roundabout and Gulberg, decided to remain closed and move to online classes.

However, the District Education Authority insists all educational institutes will remain open. But school administrations, in order to avoid any inconvenience to the parents and students, decided to remain close.

The PTI leaders and workers started gathering at Liberty Roundabout early in the morning at 8am on Friday (today) to carry out their long march towards Islamabad to demand the holding of early elections in the country.
