Director Education British Council Dr Nishat Riaz visits UVAS

The Director of Education British Council Pakistan Dr Nishat Riaz paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and delivered a lecture on the topic of ‘British Council’s current programs and initiatives for the improvement in Higher Education in Pakistan’ here on Friday.

Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faulty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and a large number of faculty members and postgraduate students were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nishat Riaz said that UVAS students must be proud of studying in the historic institution of Pakistan contributing a lead role to food production, especially by actively working on food safety and food security and playing a vital role in the development of the livestock sector through its quality education and research. She said the British Council is offering scholarships to students for getting an education as well as providing opportunities for faculty development. She highlighted the importance of libraries, research, and collaboration with other institutions to explore new innovative knowledge and skills. She shared her past experiences with students. She advised students to learn from history and there are many diversifications of culture and religion in the world and if you accept these things, it will be key to creating new ideas and knowledge and source to learn from each other. The students asked several questions at the end of the session regarding the role of the British Council.

Earlier Dr Gulbeena Saleem spoke about the biography of Dr Nishat Riaz and objectives of this session for the benefit of UVAS students.

Later, Dr Nishat Riaz visited various departments of UVAS including UVAS Veterinary Academy and Pet Centre.
