Delegation of NIM Karachi visits PEF Lahore

A 45-member delegation of the 32nd Senior Management Program (SMC) of the National Institute of Management (NIM), Karachi visited the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) head office, in Lahore.

Managing Director Punjab Education Foundation Manzar Javed Ali welcomed them and gave a detailed briefing on Foundation Assisted School, Education Voucher Scheme and New School Program. MD PEF said that PEF is providing free and quality education to more than 25 lakh underprivileged students through education projects under the public-private partnership model. He said that through 7000 partner schools in all the districts of the province, special attention is paid to the provision of quality education to male and female students as well as teachers’ training and co-curricular activities so that the student becomes a good human being in national construction.

MD PEF also briefed the delegation about the Roshan Thal project in detail. MD PEF said that Thal Project has been successfully launched to facilitate access of deserving children to free education under which 300 schools in districts of Bhakkar, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali and Layyah will be opened. MD PEF also informed the delegation in detail about Cholistan Mobile School and Cholistan Community Schools.

MD PEF told the delegation that schools that do not meet PEF’s educational standards would have their partnership cancelled and new schools would be opened on these cancelled sites keeping in mind the future of the children studying in the cancelled schools. MD PEF told the delegation that new schools are being opened on the sites of cancelled schools and four phases have been successfully launched in this regard. MD PEF said that this project aims to secure the students’ future in these schools.

At the end of the meeting, all the senior officers under training appreciated the public-private partnership model of PEF and the steps taken by PEF for free education and termed it as the ladder of national development.
