APUBTA accelerates campaign for promotions

The All Pakistan Universities BPS Teachers Association president Dr. Sami ur Rahman visited the University of Azad Kashmir, Women University of Azad Kashmir, University of Poonch, University of Kotli, and Mirpur University of Science and Technology to discuss the crisis in higher education and the problems faced by BPS faculty in Universities in Azad Kashmir.

During the meetings, the faculty members showed great concern over the illogical polices of HEC and they expressed that the existing HEC policies are discouraging teaching in universities.

Expressing concerns, they said that lack of promotion policy and service structure for BPS teachers is negatively affecting their performance. The HEC has kept PhD as compulsory requirement for promotion but BPS faculty members are not provided opportunities for pursuing PhD.

The teachers are compelled to pursue PhD, to perform their routine duties of twelve to fifteen credit hours of teaching as well as to perform other administrative responsibilities. As a result, the quality of teaching and research are compromised. The teachers expressed that the illogical policies have put the genuine teachers into inferiority complex and majority of teachers are becoming patients of depression and anxiety.
