UET inaugurates China Study Center

The inauguration ceremony of the China Study Center funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore. Vice-Chancellor UET Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar along with Director China Study Center Prof Dr Shahid Rafique inaugurated the center.

The China Study Center is established as a mini think tank to promote academic and research linkages between Chinese and Pakistani universities. The primary function of this Center is to drive collaborative activities to enhance understanding of the Chinese system, culture and economic miracle.

Deans of all faculties, Registrar, Director IB&M, Dr Mahwish Riaz Chairperson Department of Humanities and Natural Sciences, In-charge Chinese Language Program and all Chinese language staff attended the ceremony.

The renovated building of the Department of Civil Engineering UET has also been inaugurated to pay gratitude to its worthy Alumni who generously donated and renovated the Chairman’s office, Class Room C3 (now named Syed Nazir Seminar Hall) and Class Room C4 of the department.

The donors for renovating C-3 were Sons of Prof Dr Syed Nazir Ahmed (late) namely: Engr Syed Ahmad Mueen (75-Civil), Engr Syed Qaiser Jamal, Engr Syed Yousaf Nazir (85-Civil), Engr Syed Shahid Nazir (88-Civil) and Engr Syed Shoaib Nazir. The renovation of the Chairman’s Office was donated by Engr Abid Wazir Khan, CEO KIPS (83 special-Civil) and the upgradation of C-4 was made possible by the generous donation of Engr Muhammad Arif (85-Civil).
