UE and UET to enhance online & blended teaching skills of teachers

An agreement was signed between the University of Education, Lahore (UE) and the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore (UET) to enhance the online and blended pedagogical skills of teachers and bring the teaching system in line with modern requirements.

The IIOE program launched in Pakistan in collaboration with UNESCO is initiated by the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE). The agreement was formally signed by the Vice-Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) and the Vice-Chancellor University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar at a ceremony held at the Township Campus of the University.
Under the agreement, teachers serving in higher education institutions will be trained in online and blended teaching so that they can provide education and training to students keeping in view the requirements of the time. In addition, the main objective of the IIOE is to make developing countries like Pakistan realize the achievement of the educational targets set for 2030, and to increase international cooperation in higher education, quality education and educational trends.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor University of Education, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that humanity is facing complex challenges at present but modern technology as an effective tool can be used to combat them. Emerging Educational technology has gained a special place in the field of education as well as in various spheres of life, because through it the teaching system can continue uninterrupted, a glimpse of which we saw in the days of Corona epidemic. “During the Corona epidemic, online education saved the world from a major educational catastrophe, so there is a great need for our teachers to enhance their teaching skills through modern technology,” he added. This program is of great importance under the supervision of the University of Education and UET, Lahore.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar said that under the IIOE program this agreement is of great importance. The University of Education has a special place in the country in terms of teacher education and training. “So, I strongly hope that the very positive results of this program will be achieved through the University of Education and its dynamic leadership Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I)” he added. It should be noted that under the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) program, there was an Online Courses Competition-Courseware, in which more than 200 teachers from 45 countries of Asia Pacific participated. According to the results of this competition, under the supervision of Dr. Aisha Mahmood, Faculty Member, University of Education, M.Phil Scholars Sadia Nawaz and Qaratulain Sarwat won “first” and “special” positions respectively.
