10 most successful college dropouts

Educational institutes are meant to groom students and build great personalities. Great institutes have produced great names. But there are some names who did not fit well within the boundaries these schools set for them. They dropped out of school and then became as successful as anyone could be. Here are some of those personalities. Here is the list of most successful college dropouts. 

Steve Jobs 

The co-founder of Apple, the most successful and one of the richest people in the world, Steve Paul Jobs has not been very lucky in his college days. He studied at Reed College to get dropped out the same year he joined. In his commencement speech at a school, he said, ‘I ran out of money,’ explaining why he left the school. 

Mark Zuckerberg 

Who is not aware of the chief executive officer of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. He is an inspiration to the current generation who see their success in the modern world of technology. However, his college life is not an inspiration for students. He dropped out of the most prestigious institute of the world, Harvard in 2005.

Bill Gates 

One of the world’s richest and most successful people, William Henry Gates III is also a college dropout. Now a philanthropist and a businessman, Gates left Harvard after his sophomore years. He joined again to complete his graduation but only to drop out again after completing his junior year. He could not focus on the study because of his sheer involvement in Microsoft, the company he co-founded in 1975. 

Rachael Ray

The famous talk show host and a celebrity cook, Rachael Domenica Ray was a student at Pace University New York. Not able to afford her expensive education, she dropped out of school after only two years. Currently, she is hosting a lifestyle show ‘Rachael Ray’ and her food network program ’30 Minute Meals.’ She is a huge name in American media and the favorite of countless fans around the world. 

Jack Dorsey

There is something with the people of technology. Like the first three names, Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, is also a college dropout. He joined the Missouri University of Science and Technology and left it for his living. He was doing an ordinary job in New York at that time.  

Ellen DeGeneres 

The funniest, coolest, and the favorite of everyone, Ellen from The Ellen Show is also a college dropout. She was a student at the University of New Orleans for not even a whole semester. She was dropped out before her first semester ended. In one of her interviews, she said, ‘school was just not interesting to me.’ She has a successful career in sitcoms, Oscar-hosting jobs, stand-up comedy, and talk shows. 

Madonna

Singer, actress, and fashion icon, Madonna Louise Ciccone is also a college dropout. She studied at the University of Michigan and was dropped out after two years. She is one of the most famous personalities of modern culture and also an influential figure. For her success in her career, she is referred to as ‘Queen of Pop.’  

Lady Gaga 

American singer and songwriter, formerly known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, Lady Gaga is known to have brought a unique versatility in the music that no one else did. Having a splendid career in music, she was not as splendid in her college. The winner of world-famous awards attended New York University for two years and did not graduate. 

Princess Diana

The princess of Wales, a gifted musician, and a philanthropist, Diana Spencer was never as good a student. At West Heath Girls’ School, she could not perform well failing her O-level exams. After leaving this school, she joined a school in Switzerland from where she was dropped out again. She spent a struggling life doing ordinary jobs for her living. However, she became a huge name after she used her position as a royal family member for the welfare of people. 

Albert Einstein  

The great scientist and the Nobel Prize winner, Albert Einstein also dropped out of his school when he was fifteen. A genius for the world was not very genius to get an admission at the university. He attempted an entrance exam for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology that he failed. However, he passed the entrance exam for the university in his second attempt to bring revolutionary discoveries in the field of Physics.
