Baloch students end sit-in in PU after negotiation

Negotiations with the protesting Baloch students of Punjab University (PU) on the issue of arrest of guest student Bebagr Imdad from PU hostel have been successful. The university administration has written a letter to the Punjab government mentioning the concerns of the Baloch students while the protesting students have announced to end the sit-in.

The Baloch students have requested the PU administration to convey their concerns to the Punjab government. The Baloch students said that the legal requirements regarding the arrest of the guest student should be met.

He said that the arrested guest student should be given an opportunity of fair trial and they should be informed about the whereabouts of the Bebagr. They said that there was unrest among the Baloch students of the university due to the arrest of the Bebagr and all the legal requirements should be fulfilled before arresting any student from the university in future.

A Punjab University spokesman said in a statement that the guest student was arrested by law enforcement agencies from Hostel No. 7 in the morning of April 27. He said that after talks with the protesting Baloch students, a letter has been written to the higher authorities to convey their concerns to the Punjab government.
