Punjab University To Distribute Rs 0.5m Among Christian Employees

LAHORE: The Punjab University administration has announced a special allowance for Christian employees on the Christmas Eve. Punjab University Vice Chancellor has announced a special allowance of Rs 500,000 to be distributed among Christian employees.

As per details, Christian daily wagers will get Rs 3,000 special allowance while permanent employees will get Rs5000 special allowance.

A ceremony organized at the PU club was attended by the Chairman Prof Dr Atif Raza, Institute of Communication Studies Director Prof Dr Noshina Saleem, former Director Associated Press of Pakistan and visiting faculty Dr Waqar Chaudhry, Manager Raja Kifayat and many others.

Articles of clothing and cash award for employees were donated by Dr Waqar Chaudhry.

Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmed said that the quality services of PU Club has improved and is being appreciated by the people.

Christmas celebrations Held at GCU

LAHORE: The Government College University Lahore faculty, staff members and students celebrated Christmas with the university’s Christian community. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi and Guest of Honor Dr. Bishop Azad Marshall cut the Christmas cake with the university’s Christian staff and faculty members.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi said that GCU had always stood out for promoting tolerance and religious harmony. He hoped that the second wave of COVID-19 would be over soon and they would hold a bigger event with the families on Easter.

Bishop Azad Marshall said that all religions teach peace. He said Christmas was a time of delight, sharing the joys and sufferings of others, acceptance, forgiveness, reconciliation, celebrations and promoting love and peace.

Dr Peter John from the university’s Chemistry Department also spoke on the occasion.

The Christian community expressed gratitude and said that Christmas gave the message of peace and love to all humanity.
