Six myths about university life that we all have heard

University life is one of the most precious phases of a student’s life. This is because it is full of learning and experiencing new things. At the same time, it takes a lot of skills and effort to be one a successful student at a university. We will be sharing 6 myths about university life.

Before we come to a university, we hear many things from different people about it. Some of them are true and many are not. However, it becomes clear maximum by the second or third semester that how you are going to spend the rest of your university life. Here are the common myths that we all heard before taking admission.

University life is all about fun

We all know what dreams we had about our university. Who was the person that told you that this life is all about the party, hangouts, and fun? Well, there might be a little more fun in your life but that does not outweigh the burden you have received in the form of studies and other responsibilities. So, who has time for fun when there are several assignments due? Particularly, in the last years, you will find this myth totally proven wrong.

You do not need to study much like in the previous grades

Yes, we were told so. You do not have to wake up all night to study like you used to do in your intermediate. Alright, but who would complete all the assignments and study for the quiz? Not just that, you have to prepare lectures for some strict teachers, make presentations, and practice them. All of this needs a lot of time and effort. And wait, none of this includes the preparation of exams. You do not come out of the fatigue from the mid-terms that you get a notice for the final exams. yes, this is how the university goes, like a roller coaster.

You can easily skip classes at university

Yes, I did that and ended up repeating that subject because I was not allowed to sit in the exams. A shortage of attendance means you are going to repeat it. By skipping a few classes, you reach the lower limit of your leaves. So, there is no point in saying that you can skip classes easily. The teacher might not criticize you verbally but you will not get marks for class participation and in extreme cases, you will not be allowed in the exam.

Getting grades is not a big deal in university

Such a lie. Assignments, presentations, quizzes, class participation, exams, viva, and then practical or experimentation reports, it takes a lot to get good grades in a university. You do not just need good exam skills to get through it. Good writing skills, time managing skills, complete knowledge of the subject, communication skills, analytical skills, and many other things can make it to good grades in a university. So, calling it easy is not justified at all.

You will find your true love at university

Did you? Well, who would tell whether it is true love or not? Many people think university gets you to the love of your life. Mostly, these hopes end up in disappointment. I don’t know what’s the matter but normally students are not satisfied with the people on their own campus. However, some become love birds and end up marrying. But, to call it true for most people is a myth. Your interaction very rarely happens to be a long-term relationship.

You can be friends with teachers at a university

Out of all my degrees, the most difficult was to have friendly terms with university teachers. And, this is true for most of the institutes. In a university, your teacher is an authority. They are not just sitting in a separate room with a separate system, they have earned it. Now, when they are way ahead of where we are, it sounds very difficult to have friendly relations with them. Well, being a good student is another thing. Usually, even becoming a good student becomes difficult. However, it is important to be on good terms with your teacher to get good grades most of the time.
