The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced the winners of the art competition ‘Art Beat’. Through the promotion of arts and local talent, the competition aimed to celebrate the power of humanity.
The ICRC received more than 700 entries for the competition. The first prize went to Muhammad Muzammil Khan, second prize to M Hussain, and the third prize to Javeria Hanif. Each winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 250,000, Rs 220,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively. Apart from the top three winners, Adnan Khan was declared a runner-up for his commendable work and won a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Fizza Bangash, Head of Communications for the ICRC in Pakistan, says, “As we reel from a global pandemic, it is more important than ever to celebrate the power of humanity and the wonders we can do when we work together. Art Beat is a part of the ICRC’s efforts to underpin our core principle of humanitarianism, and with over 700 entries, we are delighted that this year’s theme resonated with so many.”
Open to all Pakistani citizens above the age of 20, Art Beat competition was launched on August 5, 2021 and attracted artists from across Pakistan. The ICRC engaged renowned local artists Mr Irfan Gul and Mr Ali Kazim as judges for the art competition.
Humanitarianism lies at the heart of the ICRC’s work. In Pakistan, the ICRC works in partnership with local authorities and organizations to help vulnerable communities through its expertise in the fields of health, physical rehabilitation, restoring family links, promotion of international humanitarian law, and humanitarian forensics.
