COMSATS sacks faculty member for immoral question in exams

The COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has sacked a faculty member for adding immoral question to the examination. CUI, in this regard, has also sent a complete inquiry report to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).

The MoST in a letter written to CUI on January 19 asked to present an inquiry report about the recent incident of asking objectionable and controversial questions in the examination of the English Subject of Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEE).

It is pertinent to mention here that an objectionable question was asked in the examination of English to the students of BEE studying in COMSATS. Upon which the MoST asked CUI to present the inquiry report.

The report of CUI states that inquiry against the content of the quiz of English Subject of BEE, 1st Semester Course Code HUM 100, action on the matter has already been taken and the service of the Lecturer (visiting faculty) has been terminated with effect from January 5, 2023.

The management of CUI has confirmed the sacking of faculty members and said that the lecturer has been added to the blacklist. Rector CUI called the explanation from the faculty member and asked about the reason and motive, who in reply stated that the question was added from Google without review. He was immediately sacked and the quiz was retaken to provide support to the students.

The letter of MoST available with Academia Magazine asked the Rector CUI to initiate the inquiry and submit the report within a week and terminate the services of faculty member immediately.
