The 1st Convocation of Punjab University Institute of Education and Research (IER) held at Faisal Auditorium New Campus here on Sunday.
Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Dr Niaz Ahmad was chief guest on occasion where as Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Prof Irshad Ahmad Farrukh, Prof Rauf I Azam, faculty members, students and their parents were also present.
At the convocation students from 1960 to 2019 were awarded degrees. Gold medals were awarded to 21 students whereas, 4 PhD, 13 MPhil, 656 MA, Med, Bed (Hons) degrees were awarded to students. Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmad congratulated the students and admired the efforts of Dean Faculty of Education, faculty members and staff of IER for making the convocation a successful event. He also assured his support to make IER among the world’s top 100 best institutions.
He also emphasized the need to make students socially, spiritually, behaviorally good humans who can compete internationally. He also announced easy loans for the students to create opportunities for them. In his message in connection with International Women’s Day Dr Niaz also advised graduated female students to play their vital role in the development of society and country.
Director IER Prof Dr Rafaqat Ali Akbar welcomed all the guests, faculty members and students. He also presented three year performance report of IER and informed the audience about future plans. He also congratulated all the graduating students and their parents.
